Silent Appointments

We had a lot of amazing feedback after reposting a photo about offering silent appointments. More than I actually thought we would. I’m not naturally a super talkative stylist and I usually follow my guests lead with their level of chattiness. However, there can still be some stress around feeling like you HAVE to chat. I always feel so bad when my clients apologize for being quiet because if they’re comfortable, I’m comfortable. We will update our online booking to offer this type of appointment because your comfort is our number one priority. We can’t wait to see you!

Cutting your hair doesn’t make it grow faster - but it keeps it stronger

Ok, so we’ve all heard this before! Obviously cutting your hair doesn’t make it grow FASTER, but it does help it stay STRONGER while you’re growing it out and you won’t have 20 million little bits of hair flying off every time you brush it! Who’s guilty of trying to grow their hair out but feeling like it barely grows at all for months?

Get. A. Haircut. We are always asked how often you should get a trim if you’re growing out your hair. I always say with the change of seasons! If your hair grows slowly, maybe every 4 months or so. If your goal is to grow your hair out healthily, regular trims are essential to help prevent those pesky split ends. Even as a hairstylist I’m guilty of waiting too long between trims!

Let’s talk split ends! You know those little white balls on the ends of your hair that are holding on for dear life? Those will likely break off the next time you heat style or brush your hair.

And then GUESS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!

It turns into another split end until eventually your hair has 3757292 different lengths in it and you only have 20 hairs reaching to the perimeter of your length! Well, that was a little exaggerated but you catch my drift.

But just so you know, when it’s time for a trim we will literally just clean up your ends by trimming exactly what you want off. And everything in between your haircut that can’t actually be cut, we will do a split ends trim. It’s tedious and takes time but it will make all the difference when growing your hair out. This is an amazing time to add-on a treatment to your thirsty locks as well!

Why going platinum isn’t for everyone

Not everyone can be platinum. Part of being a great hairstylist is educating our clients. Sometimes it’s hard to relay YEARS and YEARS of knowledge and education to our guests in a 15-20 minute consultation before a colour service but we try our best. This stunners hair is naturally a level 7-8 which makes lifting her hair to this bright of a blonde possible. She lets me use Olaplex every time, uses professional products at home and she sometimes lets me “dust” her ends She’s basically a dream client AND she trusts me. You can’t get much better than that. She has been a client of mine for 8 months and comes in every 8 weeks. I realize that frequent of a visit isn’t for everyone, but this type of colour requires maintenance

Current Hair photos and why we ask for them after you book online

If you’re a new guest to The Guild, we’ve likely asked you to send 3 photos of what your hair currently looks like and 2-3 years of colour history. We do this for FOUR reasons:

#1. We’re a team with MANY different skill sets. If we feel like the colour you want to achieve is actually one of our teammates’ areas of expertise, we will recommend them to you. Not every hair stylist is the stylist for you, and that’s ok!

#2. We want to make sure we have the right amount of time blocked off for you. We hate disappointing you when you’ve booked in for two hours, but really we need double the amount of time to achieve what you’re wanting.

#3. We like to get a vision of what we’re working with before we get to meet you. It helps us come up with a partial game plan before you even sit in our chair.

#4. It gives us time to educate you and set you up for realistic expectations for the amount of time you’ve blocked off with us.

All of that being said, (if you’re reading this far) thank you so much for being patient with us during the booking process. We really just want to make sure we’re set up for an amazing first visit!
